Post 33 – 08/06/23 – Meeting With Tracy Bhamra

On Mon 5th June, Professor Tracy Bhamra, Provost & Pro-Vice-Chancellor sent us an email inviting us to a meeting the following day. This communication was somewhat unexpected but was of course much welcomed. Regretfully, due to work commitments we were unable to attend but we now have a meeting scheduled with her for Tues 27th June.

In light of this development, and us achieving our main goal here, it has been decided that the Photocall event planned for Sat 17th June should be postponed.

We know this decision will be a disappointment for some: we know how frustrated some of us are by the situation and how this would have been a good opportunity to express this dissatisfaction. But we are sure that you understand that postponing the event is the right course of action in light of this approach by Tracy.

We will of course report the outcome to this meeting in due course.

Though we do not have a crystal ball, we imagine that the opportunity to meet with a member of the senior team would not have been possible had we not been prepared to take this direct action. We would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for being prepared to do so. We would also like to thank everyone for the emails, messages and calls over the last couple of weeks supporting WNTT.

Between now and the 27th June, we will continue to post. Next week we will discuss the impact of this year’s Summer Ball on some of the community.

I also mentioned in the last post that we would share Helen G’s email. Though time has moved on, and the email is no longer relevant, please find a link to her email below:

To conclude: by acting together we will continue to have the best opportunity to change the status quo. And if you have already made your sign/ banner please don’t throw it away just yet – we are moving in the right direction but we may very well need it in the future.

Best wishes,
